Dawn Chorus, 2020
Core City Park
Detroit, MI
Dawn Chorus is a hybrid species- shiny, clean, metallic… crisp lines, hard edges, but with an accumulation of organelles spread across its faces, glowing in the darkness. To make this piece I studied images of microscopic cell cultures, examples like plant stems or organ tissue cross-sections, so that I could map the growth patterns in their living scaffolding and use them to intersect / splice with a modern, minimal aesthetic.
